Born on December 26, 1949 in Rotterdam / IJsselmonde. Lives and works in Zierikzee (Zeeland). Studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam from 1968 to 1974.
My fragmentation technique was created before 1973 while drawing a number of landscapes in Rijsoord in South Holland. Then I discovered that drawing vertically and seeing residual shapes as visual elements was the solution for me to many painting problems.
It eventually became my own handwriting that I apply in various techniques and themes.
Fragmenting the subject into image and color elements has everything to do with composition and organization.
In this way I can give all the visual elements a place and my own translation of the subject is created with a playful composition of surfaces that continue and stagger.
